About Laureene Reeves Ndagire

I am trying (and slightly failing for the most part) to keep 2 blogs, but once in a while something will appear in your feed, so be patient with me My first blog: https://thesmartfoodfield.wordpress.com/, is about food, its production, loss, waste and threats within our food systems. I am a passionate young farmer, with a fruit farm in Uganda and while in the Netherlands i am involved with an urban garden where i live in Wageningen. I am a PhD candidate [researching but not attached to any projects at the moment], doing research on resilience for food and nutrition security in post-shock regions. My PhD will assess emerging shocks that threaten food and nutrition security, and discuss approaches/tools for building resilience, and identify knowledge and action gaps that can support policy on the topic. I aim to examine how food insecurity can be an input to and outcome of conflict, and look at the complex relation between food security, and shocks that pose a threat to food and nutrition security. The blog covers North -North, South-South, South-North interventions to reduce food loss/waste along the value chain and building stronger food systems. My research interests also stretch to: sustainability transitions, environmental justice, 'the sharing economy', urban commons, utopian thought, social movements around 'peak-everything', and in general planning, policy, social movements and contestations around sustainable urban development. There is also a second blog: https://thisgirlandherfeet.wordpress.com/ - this is my travel blog, with little stories of hidden and not so hidden places that i have been to, and those that i will go to I am still looking for my utopia and have no patience for people who stereotype or put others in a box...
